Have you ever been faced with the challenge of a disabled patient having a medical emergency? Literature shows that problems with health care providers and their approach to disabilities include; lack of disability-specific knowledge, discomfort with work with people with disability and negative attitudes and misconceptions on disability. Now it’s time to break the stigma with a FREE workshop based around breaking the stigma, atypical presentations of common injuries/illnesses, de-escalation techniques, communication with the non-verbal patient as well as how to enter into the intellectually disabled patient’s environment or group home.
